Thanks very much to my wonderful boyfriend, I now have a custom Macross Minmay DD! One of a kind made by a dealer, there will never be another one like her. I love the colors and the artist did an amazing job. Everything from the eyes, wig, and face up are all custom done by the artist.
Yesterday I was delighted to finally receive several things I had ordered! I won a huge lot of eyes from Y!Japan, a nice outfit lot with about six different Volks outfit sets, and a Chopin Bean (Dearmine) that I can't wait to take more pictures of when it warms up a bit outside. For now, I have some pictures of some updated Dollfie Dreams as well as the Chopin Bean. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to get more pictures, including of some new Nendoroids!
The MDD is one I've had some trouble with for a long time. I've had different heads on the body, different wigs, different eyes.. but I've never quite had this doll exactly where I want her until now. With the new outfit, cute Dollpa exclusive red/purple eyes, and the wig she currently has on - I feel like this is exactly what I wanted.
Speaking of dolls that I've had trouble with, Rei Ayanami is also one that has not gotten a whole lot of attention. I got her brand new, and upon assembly just couldn't quite find myself liking her as much as some of the others. I told myself if I have to sell a doll, unfortunately she would probably be the first choice. Until now, that is. Now the decision would just be difficult , period. With new eyes, new wig, and new outfit as well I think I've finally found something that fits her how I want. The type 1 body she has really isn't an issue, as you will see in the pictures it's still strung tightly enough to pose without a stand.
Chopin Bean is adorable, and I love everything about him. From the eyes to the wings, tail, and ears... he's super unique! To be honest I'm not sure if he's based off of an animal, or some kind of legend, but he has a lot of characteristics similar to a small dragon. I missed out on him when he was originally released, being seasonal only.
I recently received my very first Dollfie doll- and to be honest probably the only one I'll ever be able to afford!
I have seen very little for reviews or pictures of any customized Dollfie or Dollfie Plus dolls. I'm not sure if they just weren't very popular, or if not that many people ended up actually customizing them.
She came as a pre-planned set that never got put together, so luckily I got all of the pieces for a great deal. The set came with a pair of eyes, a wig, a head with pre-cut eye holes, and the body. Can I just say how relieved I am that I don't have to cut out eye holes? I don't really think I could do it!
Volks Dollfie Plus dolls are a little taller than Pullip, and their bodies are much more "adult". How so? Pullip bodies are generally very petite and more like a "teenager" as that is what they are supposed to be, Dollfie bodies are much more rounded and not as small. Poseability however is close to the same, maybe somewhere between a type three and type four Pullip body or an Obitsu.
Anyway, as usual I was in too much of a hurry to put her together to actually finish the doll, so the wig is loose, the head isn't screwed in (need to find a smaller screw or actually thread the back of the head correctly), the Barbie dress she's wearing is a little too big, and her face up rubbed off when I was trying to screw the head together. I considered sealing the face up, but decided against it for now in case I change my mind anytime in the near future. For example, when I actually have time to do some customizing.
